What is Botox®?
Treatment with Botox® minimizes signs of aging and stress – to give you a more youthful and relaxed look.
Whenever we laugh, frown, or squint into the sun, our facial muscles contract – producing creases. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and these “creases” deepen into lines that become permanently etched on our face, such as crow’s feet and frown lines. By temporarily relaxing these muscles using Botox® your expression will be more relaxed and the lines will be greatly reduced – often eliminated.
Tiny amounts of Botox® are injected directly into the facial muscle underlying the creased area – it usually takes 3-5 small, almost painless injections, which are visually unnoticeable. Your appointment will take approximately 20 minutes. We have a powder room available for you to reapply make-up before returning to your daily activities.
Your result will be noticeable between 3-14 days after treatment. The benefits usually last between 3 and 6 months
Botox® is also used to effectively treat axillary hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating of the armpits).
Botox® is a prescription medicine containing 100 units of clostridium botulinum Type A toxin complex for injection. It is used for the treatment of frown lines and excessive sweating. It should be administered only by trained medical professionals. Cautions: people with neuro-muscular transmission disorders, infection at site of injection, pregnancy and lactation. Some people have reported temporary side effects; the most common being headache, eyelid droop, pain and injection site pain. Talk to our specialist about the benefits/risks of this procedure. Botulinum toxin type A is available in two formulations in New Zealand. However, their different manufacturing methods means that they have different dose strengths. The dose required for treating an area is worked out by the physician, who will adjust for this difference in strength.

What are Fillers?
Another very popular treatment used to reduce and remove fine lines and deeper creases is injectable fillers. This involves injecting a substance into the skin in order to ‘plump-up’ or ‘fill-up’ the area being treated. The areas most frequently treated with fillers include naso-labial folds (furrows from your nostrils to your outer lip area), smile lines, lines around lips and chin area.
