Refresh and rejuvenate your skin with IPL

IPL is an effective and popular way to improve the skin on your face, neck, chest, arms and hands. This in-clinic procedure usually requires three (six for hair removal) sessions of about 20 minutes each, preformed at three-weekly intervals. The procedure is not uncomfortable – the sensation is likened to the flick of an elastic band on the skin. In addition to effectively treating multiple symptoms in each session, IPL is gentle, non-invasive and safe requiring no down time.

Hair removal

Sick of shaving, plucking, bleaching or waxing? Innovative, light based devices have revolutionised the treatment of unwanted hair, offering an effective and convenient solution for both men and women. The IPL system uses target flashes of light, which is converted to thermal energy at the target hair follicle, thus inhibiting growth potential of the hair follicle. These treatments do not damage surrounding tissue, and they target numerous hair follicles simultaneously, allowing for treatment of larger areas more effectively. The result? Permanent hair reduction.

The length of a treatment may be short as a few minutes for small areas or up to an hour for larger areas. It is important to understand that the number of treatments required will depend on your specific skin and hair type. We will give you an estimate of the number of treatments you will need during your consultation.

What to do before hair removal treatment

Before starting IPL treatment clients are requested to shave or cut the hairs in the area to be treated – usually the day before, so that the hairs are just protruding above the skin.

What happens next?

A cold gel is applied to the skin to keep the skin cool and focus the light treatment. Your nurse will enter specific settings into the system for your hair and skin-type, and conduct a test spot to assess your skin’s responsiveness to the device. The treatment may cause some minor discomfort – clients often describe it as a slight sting or liken it to a small pinch. The appearance of the skin following a treatment varies from person to person, however most can expect mild redness lasting for up to a few hours. You can return to normal activity immediately. The hairs will fall out between one and three weeks after the treatment. Subsequent sessions are scheduled for the next hair growth cycle – usually between four and six weeks.

Omni-Lite LED therapy

This therapy triggers the body to convert light energy into cell energy without thermal injury, therefore it is safe and effective for all skin types. It stimulates cells to make new collagen and elastin, and after a few treatments, improvement of the texture and appearance of the skin is visible. It is also an excellent anti-inflammatory following procedures such as IPL and Dermal Fillers, helping speed up recovery time.

Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT)

PDT for sun damage, solar keratoses, pre-cancerous lesions and early superficial skin cancers. Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT) is a specialised treatment performed with a topical photosensitising agent called ALA (aminolevulinic acid), which is activated with the correct wavelength of blue light. It is also known as ALA/PDT treatment. These treatments remove sun damaged pre-cancerous zones and spots called solar or actinic keratoses. Sun damaged skin, fine lines, and blotchy pigmentation are also improved.
